In der heutigen Zeit musikalische Pionierarbeit zu leisten, ist alles andere als einfach. Im Grunde gibt es nichts, was es noch nicht gibt – dies könnte man zumindest meinen. Das Ensemble FLARMENIA tritt mit seinem Konzept den Gegenbeweis an: Die vier Musiker aus Österreich und Armenien haben ein musikalisches Projekt ins Leben gerufen, das es in dieser Form schlichtweg noch nicht gibt. FLARMENIA verbindet die Flamencomusik Südspaniens mit armenischen Melodien und ansprechenden Jazzharmonien und somit repräsentiert einen musikalischen Dialog zwischen den Kulturen Armeniens und Andalusiens - eine kunstvolle Verbindung basierend auf mittelöstlicher Melodie- und abendländischer Harmoniekunst. Durch die Nähe Spaniens und Armeniens zum Orient fließen zudem auch orientalische Musikelemente, wie die Vierteltontechnik, in die Kompositionen maßgeblich mit ein. Ferner sind auch poetisch-lyrische Übersetzungen armenischer Lieder Teil der breiten Palette Flarmenias.
Die Musik des Ensembles folgt den Wanderwegen der Gitanos, beginnend in Indien, weiter durch Persien, Armenien, den Balkan bis hin nach Andalusien. Die Musik Flarmenias ist anpassungsfähig, wie die der Gitanos. Dafür sorgt die ausgesprochen hochkarätige Besetzung des Ensembles: Die Stimme der Sängerin Rita Movsesian intoniert hingebungsvoll armenische Liebeslieder, die Oud Vanik Avakians träumt von der langen Reise durch das Morgenland, die kraftvolle und doch sensible Gitarre von Martin Kelner entführt das Publikum in die Welt des Flamenco und die rhythmischen Klänge des spanischen "Cajón", einer Kistentrommel, gespielt von Alexander Petkov, rundet das einzigartige musikalische Konzept ab. FLARMENIA steht für Musik in Reinform - eine musische Reise durch verschiedenste Kulturen, die begeistert, fasziniert und inspiriert. |

Carrying out pioneer musical work in today's world is anything but easy. There is essentially nothing left to do which has not been done already - or so, at any rate, might one think. Step up the FLARMENIA ensemble and its concept as proof that the opposite is true. The four musicians from Austria and Armenia have put a musical project into action in a way that has never before been seen. In its unique and unmistakable way FLARMENIA creates a fusion between the music of two traditional cultures. The ensemble combines the flamenco music of southern Spain with Armenian melodies and the emotional harmonies of jazz. The closeness of Armenia and Spain to the Orient also allows elements of oriental music to flow significantly into the compositions, such as the use of quartertone techniques. As well as this, lyrical poetic translations of Armenian songs make up part of FLARMENIA's colourful palette.
The result? A fusion of Middle-Eastern melodies and Western harmonies.
The ensemble’s music follows the trail walked by the Gitanos, beginning in India, travelling on through Persia, Armenia and the Balkans, and finally to Andalusia. FLARMENIA’s music is as ever-changing as the Gitanos; the absolutely top-class members of the ensemble make sure of that. The voice of charismatic singer Rita Movsesian sings out Armenian love songs with devotion; Vanik Avakian’s Oud (a short-necked lute) dreams of the long journey through the Orient; Martin Kelner’s powerful yet sensitive guitar playing leads the audience into the world of flamenco; then the rhythmic sounds of the Spanish ‘Cajón”, a box drum played by Christian Stanger, rounds off the unique musical concept.
All four of the musicians are experts in their field. First educated and now teaching at the Salzburg Mozarteum or the Viennese and Spanish Universities of Music, as well as a wide variety of stage appearances at the Salzburg Festival amongst others, or at festivals and concerts both at home and abroad – all this speaks for itself.
FLARMENIA represents music in its purest form - a musical journey through the most different cultures imaginable which will excite, fascinate and inspire audiences. |
